I've been looking for a good place to shoot a portrait for this upcoming interview of one of the riders. I remembered this cafe i'd been to last year while in the city. The place was perfect for what i was looking for. Just needed a bounce. The following day we were planning on shooting there and it was raining.......Oh well, next time

Brick and Mortar

I've been meaning to come to NY to shoot random photos for a while now. One of the things I really wanted to focus on was the architecture and the overall feel of the buildings in the city. Pretty happy with what I got but still wish i had some more time to cruise around and check everything out. Here are a couple random snaps

Unexpected

While having beers at this little Chelsea cafe I looked up to see this? Not sure what exactly it was doing here but the lighting was superb:)

Williamsburg Bridge

Our hotel had bikes so we decided to take a little bike trip around Brooklyn. 1st stop was beers on the bridge. I had never been up this bridge and was pretty blown away by its size in general...To most New Yorkers its a common site and nothing special...I thought differently.






Best place i've had a beer in a while...Encinitas doesn't even have a bike path

Open For Business

Green Point, Brooklyn is seriously on the up. Regentrification is everywhere and there seems to be cool new businesses around every corner. The hipsters in Williamsburg have started to migrate....This dude was getting his new bar cleaned up and ready for business. Something I could see myself doing some day. Perfect day to work on the bar

On this photo trip I wanted to find photos of things that you might not normally notice or shoot a photo of. Most of these had a really really large print in mind. For example...Imagine have a 5ft by 5ft photo of a fire hydrant on the wall?

We were walking down the street in Chelsea and came to a gas station that only serviced NYC cabs....I wonder if they were pissed that the cabbies wanted to pay with a card?




Side Note: To obtain a permit to drive a cab in NYC can cost up to a million dollars....Paid to the city of NY

Spicing Things Up

Jim, Dominique and I headed to Red Hook, Brooklyn a couple weeks back to check out this art opening....Dont want to be critical but the show was pretty lackluster. One of the pieces though was a giant pile of feathers in the middle of a room, how artsy.....Jim asked the girl if he could climb into the feathers and she said cool....this made the show and turned a boring exhibit into a good one.



What Jim didn't realize is that he is semi allergic to down....I thought the dude was going to die!

One of the worst things about regentrification is all the cool old stuff goes away....I mean, everyone loves a new 7-11 but is it really worth tearing down the 80 year old building to build it?

Last year I meant to shoot some portraits in this lodge at Sun Valley. We ran out of time and I never had a chance....This year I had a chance but was in film mode and didn't bring a flash....None the less Seppe and I snapped a few.

Somehow we got lucky enough to be in Borrego for the night of the super moon....It was actually almost too bright out there and most of the photos and time lapses turned out to look like underexposed daylight shots...

Dominique and I headed to Borrego last week to meet up with Jordan and crew for his desert Bday....The desert has some weird things going on. Abandoned buildings everywhere. Perfect for a photo pit stop
